In the Wharfedale valley lays the small town of Ilkley and for the past 32 years, Ilkley Stove Centre (formerly Northern Woodburning Centre) has been providing a warm welcome to the homes of the Yorkshire Dales.

Brief History Established in 1979, Ilkley Stove Centre is a privately owned and managed stove and fireplace showroom based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. We started off selling “Jotul” wood burning stoves from Norway (the home of burning wood) and our business has developed over the years adding multifuel, gas, pellet and electric stoves as well as range cookers and fireplace design.

We offer a full installation service for stoves, fireplaces, and flexible chimney linings, we also offer expert advice should you wish to install the stove yourself and our experienced showroom staff will be pleased to provide  information and prices on everything you may require for a successful and stress free installation. We carry out a free survey to check suitability, smoke test the chimney (if possible) and discuss individual requirements.

Currently with the emphasis on “green initiatives” wood burning stoves have become more efficient with clean burn or tertiary air systems to increase the heat obtained from the fuel and most have air wash systems to keep the glass clean. They have become more popular in burning waste and natural wood, especially in smoke controlled areas and with the current high costs of heating the home.

Over the last fifteen years we have added to our workforce (from a two man business to eleven), a dedicated team of support staff and installers who between them have the necessary skills to transform your existing fireplace in to one of your dreams.

We have an expert team of trained fitters who carry out a full installation service. The team are all qualified engineers under the HETAS scheme. 
*(Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme -To ensure the stove is fitted safely it is important that the installation is carried out by a “competent person” or a qualified HETAS engineer and is registered with HETAS or the local authority).
With in our team of seven installers we have a “gas safe” registered fitter and “Part P” electrician, a stone mason with 38 years experience in the building trade, two builders and plasterers, two general fitters with ten years experience within the stove industry and experienced roofers.  All our installers are employed by ourselves, are HETAS* registered and between them have 35 years experience in the stove industry (we rarely sub-contract work). Our fitting area covers all of West Yorkshire, most of North Yorkshire and East Lancashire.

We are main distributors for Aarrow, Aga stoves, Charnwood, Cleanburn, Dovre, Dunsley, Esse cookers and stoves, Euroheat, Franco Belge, Gazco,  Hunter,  Hwam, Jotul, Morso, Scan, Stovax, Town & Country, Vermont Castings, Villager and Yeoman.

Our well stocked showroom displays stoves and fires in fireplace settings and our working displays currently include a gas fired Esse Range Cooker in cream enamel, Charnwood multifuel Cove 2 with store stand, Stovax Riva Studio 1 wood burning cassette, Gazco gas coal effect Huntingdon 30 in Ivory enamel, Gazco gas log effect Stockton 5, Euroheat Harmony 15 gas log effect, Gazco gas log effect Riva Cassette. All our electric stoves are working models.
